How do landforms, bodies of water and natural resources affect the quality of life in Canada?

What Did Students Do?

Students continued to build their understanding of multiplication this week. They learned efficient mental math strategies for the 6x table and continued to build their fluency with the fact families from last week. Students also reviewed and practiced how to use the Grid Method to solve larger multiplication equations. We will work towards multiplying three by two digit equations in the coming weeks as well as using the traditional method as a strategy.

In writing, students worked on organizing their ideas for an opinion piece of writing. Students used an OREO graphic organizer (Opinion, Reasons, Examples, restate Opinion) to plan their ideas. They will continue to weave their ideas into organized paragraphs with linking words next week.

In Social Studies, students began learning about the Arctic natural region of Canada. Students are using resources to find information about this region such as the natural resources, climate/weather and history. Students will work towards creating a slideshow presentation of their research in the coming weeks.

Have a wonderful Fall Break!
