Writing

Examine a variety of text features that organize content and emphasize information that is most important.


Summarize and organize ideas gained from sources using a variety of methods or tools.


Recognize how an understanding of Canadian history and the stories of its peoples contributes to their sense of identity.


 What Did Students Do?

In writing, students gathered facts and information about Terry Fox using the 5Ws to focus their research. Students chose an organizational tool such as a web or a chart to use. They read online sources of information about Terry Fox. They identified important information and decided which W - Who, What, Where, When, Why - the fact fit best with. They recorded this information in the form of a jot note.
